Harley Davidson
At the end of 2019, a Harley Davidson FLH-1200 motorcycle, with markings from the Marine Patrol in the Netherlands Antilles, was added to our collection.
FLH-1200
Harley Davidson
This motorcycle, with original number plate KM 20-50, derives from the Dutch Naval Base Parera on Curaçao. In 1979, three of these motorcycles were commissioned to replace BMW R60 motorcycles.
Marine Patrol
From 1951 until 1989, the enforcement of internal rules and regulations within the Corps stationed on the islands was performed by the Marine Patrol (MP). They inspected the marines’ attire, imposed the rules of conduct, stood guard outside the Government Building and were in charge of the Governor’s security.
Whenever the Governor went out on official business or welcomed distinguished guests from abroad, the MPs would head up the motorcade on their motorcycles. After 1989, these duties were taken over by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee.
